FRINTON LOCAL SUPPORT LINE
FRINTON LOCAL SUPPORT LINE

We are a new voluntary organisation, initially covering the Frinton, Walton and Great Holland catchment area.

We aim to provide adults, including disabled, vulnerable and isolated people with information, advice and guidance.
We are looking to provide a helpline service which will offer:

·      A single point of contact
·      Helpful and supportive operators
·      Confident independent advice and guidance
·      Up to date information
·      Local Knowledge
·      Disability expertise

The Frinton Local Support Line will help to overcome the anxiety often faced by vulnerable people in identifying what services they require and providing a link to the various local agencies and organisations that can help.
Our service will be accessed by a single local rate telephone number, which will connect to one of our volunteer operators, who will aim to resolve the problem, if necessary the operator can signpost the caller to where they can find the assistance they need or if appropriate can contact the relevant organisation on behalf of the service user.

The idea behind this project came from a discussion between friends, one of whom is visually impaired, she was describing some of the problems she experienced living with a disability, and talking through various options of solving these issues. The idea of a non emergency helpline was discussed with local groups and organisations who were all very enthusiastic and after a huge amount of effort and the support of local councillors & our MP, the Frinton Local Support Line was formed. We want to provide local help and assistance to local people whilst building community spirit.
